This course will allow students to develop a critical thinking on language, the faculty of language and communication, the various perspectives on disabilities by using the strategies of analysis of the philosophy of language

1. Language, language and communication have been analysed from different theoretical perspectives that have emphasised various characteristics of human communication. Analysis of the different theories or approaches that have described the linguistic phenomenon, taking into account the multimodal, social and cognitive nature of language and the influences exerted by different linguistic ideologies.
2. Analysis of the development of language in the deaf and hearing child, taking into account the different theories of language and describes the various stages starting from the prelinguistic period, exploring the role of the body and more specifically gesture in the construction of the first forms of symbolic communication.
3. Explore the bio-psychosocial perspective in the care of people with disabilities as proposed by the UN Convention for the Equal of Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities, taking into account the enabling and educational role played by the speech therapist and analysing the possible advantages and/or disadvantages of overcoming an exclusively pathological perspective.
