protective equipment, hospital waste management, multidrug-resistant
microorganisms, principles of risk management and the importance of vaccination
for healthcare workers.
Dublin Descriptor 2 – Applying knowledge and understanding
The student is able to apply the principles of prevention
and control of HAIs in healthcare settings, recognising the main sources and
routes of transmission of infectious risk.
The student can correctly use concepts related to hand hygiene, PPE, standard
and additional precautions, disinfection, sterilization, waste management and
clinical risk in relation to nursing practice.
Dublin Descriptor 3 – Making judgements
The student is able to assess the importance of measures for
the prevention and control of infectious and clinical risk in the hospital
setting.
The student can recognise higher-risk care situations and critically assess the
role of professional behaviours in patient and worker safety.

teaching materials related to HAI prevention and clinical risk management.
Course Structure
The module is delivered through lectures.

tools.
Assessment takes into account correctness of contents, ability to apply them to
healthcare settings, and appropriate use of technical language.
Learning assessment may also be carried out on-line, should the conditions
require it.
