Expected Learning Outcomes

The course aims to consolidate and improve communication skills at B1+/B2 level in basic and specialized scientific English (ESP). This will develop the ability to use both everyday English and English appropriate to the specific nursing professional field, as well as to exchange general information related to situations with patients.
Students will practice using the microlanguage specific to the nursing field, consolidate their reading and comprehension skills in texts, articles, or scientific documentation, and prepare for work or study experiences abroad, both pre- and post-graduate.

Required Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of the English language is required (level A1/A2).

Detailed Course Content

Teaching will be delivered through lectures, multimedia programs, and laboratory activities.
The program will consist of activities aimed at developing/strengthening the four basic skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) and language use in various social interaction situations and on general and scientific topics, using a register appropriate to the work context.
The fundamental elements of English grammar will be consolidated, starting with verb tenses (present, past, future), the use of adverbs, modal tenses, adjectives and pronouns, prepositions, and sentence structure.

The results achieved will be assessed through a single test of General Conversation, Reading Comprehension and the presentation of a passage relevant to the students' professional field.
