Detailed Course Content
Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI): definitions, epidemiology, prevention, and control. The European surveillance of HAI: definitions, activities, strategies, and principles. Diseases-specific ECDC network. The epidemiological study of HAI: repeated prevalence and incidence studies, laboratory-based surveillance. The surveillance of Surgical Site Infections. The surveillance of HAI in Intensive Care Units: European and Italian projects. Compliance with guidelines for antimicrobial prophylaxis. Patient safety and clinical risk management. The Clean Care is Safer Care project of the WHO.

The highest grade will be assigned to the student who has demonstrated mastery of the topics, ability to apply knowledge, communication skills and mastery of the disciplinary vocabulary.
