The course aims to provide theoretical knowledge related to the anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive system, as well as the main areas of obstetrics and gynecology. Students will acquire knowledge of outpatient care pathways, pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, and the main gynecological clinical conditions, including HPV infections, urinary incontinence, fertility and infertility, contraception, and menopause. The main diagnostic tests, such as Pap smears, colposcopy, and hysteroscopy, will also be covered.
Students will be able to identify nursing care needs in obstetrics and gynecology, applying the knowledge acquired to patient care at different stages of life. They will be able to recognize clinical situations that require the involvement of other healthcare professionals and ensure the correct implementation of diagnostic and therapeutic prescriptions. Practical skills will be consolidated through clinical internships.
Students will develop independent judgment in assessing healthcare needs, integrating theoretical knowledge and clinical practice. They will be able to make appropriate healthcare decisions, recognizing the limitations of their intervention and seeking specialist advice when necessary. This skill is essential for the responsible practice of nursing.
Students will acquire communication skills to establish and promote effective supportive relationships with women, couples, and families. They will be able to provide health education on topics such as pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, contraception, and prevention, using clear, empathetic, and professional language.
Students will develop independent learning skills that will allow them to continuously update their knowledge in obstetrics and gynecology. By integrating theory and internship, students will be able to critically deepen their acquired knowledge and adapt it to different healthcare contexts, progressively improving their professional skills.
