General and clinical pathology, microbiology and pathological anatomy 1
Module General and Clinical Pathology

Academic Year 2025/2026 - Teacher: ROBERTO CASTIGLIONE

Expected Learning Outcomes

The course aims to provide students with a foundational knowledge of General Pathology, with particular emphasis on the etiopathogenetic mechanisms underlying disease processes. In parallel, students will acquire specific competencies in Clinical Pathology, with a focus on the critical evaluation and interpretation of the principal laboratory tests employed in the study of hematological and inflammatory disorders.

Course Structure

Teaching activities are delivered through frontal lectures, designed not only to convey core knowledge but also to promote critical thinking and the integration of theoretical concepts with clinical and diagnostic applications. In the event of blended or distance learning delivery, the course organization may be adapted through appropriate teaching tools and methodologies, while ensuring full alignment with the intended learning outcomes and syllabus content.

Required Prerequisites

A solid understanding of the fundamentals of histology, chemistry, biochemistry, and physics is required, along with basic knowledge of general physiology of organs and systems.

Attendance of Lessons

Attendance is mandatory, in accordance with the requirements established by the Degree Programme regulations.
