Learning Objectives

  • Physiology

The course allows the student to acquire the knowledge about the vital functions of man and the cellular mechanisms of the major biological systems. It analyzes the integrated functioning of the different organs and systems of control by which the living organism obtains and maintains the homeostasis inside.

  • ISTOLOGIA

The course develops skills on the knowledge of different cell types and their organization in the various tissues of the human body. Furthermore, skills on the morphological, microscopic structure of the tissues in the various components.

Course Structure

  • Physiology

During the lessons there are written tests and oral interviews in addition to the sessions indicated in the exam calendar.

The student will receive a pdf of some topics covered in class.

  • ISTOLOGIA

    Frontal lessons in the classroom.

Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the program planned and outlined in the syllabus.

Learning assessment may also be carried out on line, should the conditions require it.

Detailed Course Content

  • Physiology

NERVOUS SYSTEM - Functional organization of the central and peripheral nervous system; Functional organization of sensory and motor systems; Autonomous nervous system

CARDIOVASCULAR - The heart: origin and propagation of cardiac excitation; mechanical cycle of the heart; cardiac output and its regulation. Arterial, venous and capillary system. Exchange at the level of the capillaries. Blood pressure and its regulation. The blood: composition and functions. Hemostasis. Hemopoiesis and hemocateresis; Blood groups.

RESPIRATORY SYSTEM - Physiology of respiration: respiratory mechanics; ventilation and alveolar perfusion. Gas exchanges in the lungs and tissues. Transport of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood.

URINARY SYSTEM - The nephron as a functional unit; Hydro-electrolytic homeostasis; Tubular filtration, reabsorption and secretion mechanisms; Urine concentration; PH control.

DIGESTIVE SYSTEM - Motility and secretion; the phases of digestion and regulation; Digestion and absorption of food (carbohydrates, proteins, lipids). Absorption of vitamins and minerals

  • ISTOLOGIA

The aim of the course is the acquisition of skills on the knowledge of the different cell types and their organization in various tissues constituting the human body. So skills on morphological and microscopic structure of the tissue in the different components.
