Expected Learning Outcomes

To correlate the main diseases of the nervous system to the speech therapy

To understand the mechanisms and related possibilities of adaptation of the main neurological diseases of interest for the speech therapist

To know how to apply theoretical knowledge and evaluation techniques to the diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and monitoring of the main neurological disorders of interesr to the speech therapist

Anatomy and physiology of the nervous system, and in particular of the phono-articulatory and swallowing system (important)

General diagnostic approach and management to the patient of interest for the speech therapist (important)

Overview of the general organization of the nervous system and principles of neurorehabilitation

Clinical-diagnostic assessement and rehabilitative approach to the main neurological diseases of interest to the speech therapist: acute and chronic cerebrovascular diseases; cognitive decline and dementia; Parkinson's disease and other movement disorders; multiple sclerosis; amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and other motor neuron diseases; traumatic brain injury; cerebellar ataxia

Oral exam. Elements to be evaluated: relevance of the answers, quality of their contents, ability to connect with other topics within the program, ability to report examples, quality of technical language, and overall expressive ability.
