Learning Objectives

  • Hygiene
    • Knowledge of epidemiology and prevention techniques of the main infectious diseases
    • Knowledge of epidemiology and prevention techniques of the main non infectious diseases
    • Knowledge of principles and issues related to hospital hygiene
  • Hospital Hygiene

    Aims of the course are to provide students with knowledge on the impact of Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) at national, European and global level, on the concepts and tools for the HAI epidemiological surveillance according to the standards of European and/or national projects; to prepare the students for evaluating results of surveillance studies and of the main strategies for the prevention and control of HCAIs.

    The aims are:

     

    • Extended knowledge of the most important Infectious Diseases viral, bacterial, fungal, protozoan on a aetiopathogenic basis

    • Organization of a diagnostic pathway on a clinical, instrumental, laboratory basis

    • Knowledge of therapeutic aspects of Infectious diseases drugs with main reference to antibiotics management

    • Infectious diseases: primary, secondary and tertiary prevention
    • Epidemiology and prevention of the main non infectious diseases
    • Prevention of the main non infectious diseases
    • Non infectious diseases: primary, secondary and tertiary prevention
  • Hospital Hygiene

    Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI): definitions, epidemiology, prevention and control. The European surveillance of HAI: definitions, activities, strategies and principles. Diseases-specific ECDC network. The epidemiological study of HAI: repeated prevalence and incidence studies, laboratory-based surveillance. The surveillance of Surgical Site Infections. The surveillance of HAI in Intensive Care Units: European and Italian projects. Compliance with guidelines for antimicrobial prophylaxis. Patient safety and clinical risk management. The Clean Care is Safer Care project of the WHO.

  • MALATTIE INFETTIVE

    Basic elements of clinical microbiology and pathogenesis of infectious diseases (direct or immune mediated mechanisms), geographic and social impact, modes of transmission, clinical features, diagnostic and therapeutic pathways
