Learning Objectives

  • COMPANY ORGANIZATION AND MEDICAL-LEGAL DISCIPLINES

    The Business Organization course, provided to the students of the degree course in nursing, aims to provide students with the knowledge and the "fundamentals" at the base of the organization policies of public companies. In particular, in consideration of the typically typology of the degree course, the course aims at the acquisition of knowledge related to the most important organizational aspects of contemporary business of the National Health Service, the dynamics of organized work and the methods of functioning of public administrations with reference to to the existing legal system (Health Authorities), ensuring training geared to understanding the relationships that link the management of resources and the development of people to the organizational strategy of the company, as well as the measurement of the effectiveness and efficiency of established procedures.

    If the teaching is given in a mixed or remote mode, the necessary changes may be introduced with respect to what was previously stated, in order to respect the program envisaged and reported in the syllabus.

    Verification of learning can also be carried out electronically, if the conditions require it.

  • Health Law

    The course aims to outline some essential elements of the health system, with particular regard to the right to health and informed consent.

    After an introduction on the legal system (necessary for students who do not have legal knowledge), some aspects of the protection of the health as an individual right and as a common interest (informed consent, advanced healthcare directive, compulsory treatments, ... ) will be illustrated, toghether with the principles of the Italian Healthcare System.

    With specific reference to the profession concerning the students, the discipline of the professional nurse will be outlined.

    The course will be concluded discussing about the legal liability system for medical injuries according to the L. n. 24/2017.

Detailed Course Content

  • COMPANY ORGANIZATION AND MEDICAL-LEGAL DISCIPLINES

    Through the preparation of handouts, regulations, regulations, slides etc. we tried to analyze the matter both from a general point of view and, in more detail, in the analysis of the organizational management of a company and then specifically of a public health company.

    The course is developed in two parts: the first with the examination of the various theories on business organization and the development of a series of topics that strongly characterize the organization of companies. Human Resources, Management, Control, Finance, Human Capital, the Balanced scorecard, etc.

    The second part examines the discipline in the most economic vision of the organization and management of public hospitals and healthcare companies, indicating distinctly and developing from time to time the topics that led to the process of corporatization such as: the financing system, management, management control, the budget as well as the most practical information relating to public competitions and the various types of employment contracts

    In order to make the different evolutionary processes since the establishment of the S.S.N. nowadays, and the reasons for which the change was necessary, the financing system implemented starting from Law 833/78 is analyzed.

    The process of corporatization of nationally important or interregional and highly specialized hospitals will be introduced, which will be set up by the Regions in Hospitals, with public legal personality and entrepreneurial autonomy.

    After the illustration of the path through which the hospital was created, the management, organization and organization chart are analyzed.

    Another argument is that concerning the process of corporatization in healthcare and therefore the use of the principles of: efficiency, effectiveness and appropriateness.

    Finally, the part relating to the management of a Healthcare Company is discussed, which includes the following functions: corporate mission, definition of specific objectives, provision of resources to achieve these objectives, planning and budget, definition of the criteria for evaluating results, indicators and standard.

    The management planning and control system, understood as the operational mechanism with which the Company formulates and articulates the corporate objectives through programming, usually multi-year and the formulation of the budget, taking into account the articulation of corporate responsibilities and centers of responsibility.
