Expected Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course the student will have to know the meaning of the health indicators, the general health situation of our country, possess the notions of epidemiological methodology to read and interpret scientific works, know the fundamental concepts of prophylaxis of infectious and non-infectious diseases, have general notions of health organization, planning and economics, communication and health management.

Objectives and methodologies of Hygiene, Preventive Medicine and Public Health. Disease models. Prevention of infectious diseases and chronic degenerative diseases. Epidemiological methodology. Risk and prevention factors in living and working environments. Healthcare-Related Infections (ICA). Communication for the protection and promotion of health. Definitions. Communication methods and communication models. The healthcare system in Italy. The evolution of the S.S.N. in Italy. The essential levels of assistance (LEA). Financing of Healthcare in Italy. Corporateization in Healthcare.

Health Planning, general aspects, planning phases, National Health Plan (PSN) and Regional Health Plans (PSR)

Accreditation. Health Management, managerial skills, managerial activities: planning and choice of objectives, negotiating the budget, management control, "Clinical Governance", promoting quality, efficiency, effectiveness, clinical appropriateness, organizational appropriateness.
