Learning Objectives

  • Glottology and Linguistics

    The course aims to provide students:

    1) the theoretical basis for a "scientific study" of languages and language, through reflection on the characteristics and properties of all historical-natural languages, linguistic variation and the main sociolinguistic and dialectological themes;

    2) the theoretical basis of text linguistics, through reflection on the speaker's textual competence. Particular attention will be paid to the written drafting of scientific texts (reports, scientific articles, essays, etc.) that the student will be required to produce in the context of his profession.


Course Structure

    Lectures and active learning, with the support of multimedia presentations.

    Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.


Detailed Course Content

  • Glottology and Linguistics

    Natural and human language and natural-historical languages. Sociolinguistics and dialectology.

    The text. Textual references. The distribution of information in the text. Sentence, proposition and utterance. The conversation.

    Scientific texts and professional writing (curriculum, report, scientific article etc.).
